Barrington Hall, completed in 1842 for Barrington King, the son of town founder Roswell King. Barrington King was married to Katherine Margaret and they had 12 children. By 2004, their descendants included more than 1,350 people. Several died in that very house including patriarch Roswell King. According to one old story, soon after Roswell King's death and just before his funeral, his body was resting in an upstairs room. While an enslaved person was attending to the body, a loud bellow came from the corpse, which scared the servant enough to either fall or jump out of the second story window to his death
