Lycian Tombs of Telmessos Turkey "The Lycians seem to have held a belief that the souls of their dead would be transported from the tombs to the afterworld by a sort of winged siren-like creature, and so often placed their tombs along the coast or at the top of cliffs when they were not integrated into the liveable areas of the cities." Lampa, Peru ossuary tomb of Enrique Torres Belon - An extraordinary construction both inside and out. It was designed specifically as a grave for Belon, and deserves to be considered among the major achievements in human bone anywhere in the world. It is still almost completely unknown and seldom visited by anyone outside of the region due to its incredibly remote location–Lampa is a tiny village (with all the skeletons in this tomb, there may very well be as many dead people as living in Lampa) Full Story At Link http://empiredelamort.com/charnels-and-ossuaries/lampa_peru_a/
